Community leaders

Communities need connected systems rather than slogans. Public education should complement qualified local services, crisis resources, institutional teams, and established community violence-prevention work.

COMMUNITY ROLE

Connect existing capability before creating another front door.

What leaders can do

Define the local violence problem, map existing services and trusted messengers, listen to affected communities, identify gaps, and select strategies matched to actual conditions.

What not to do

Do not advertise a hotline, coalition, referral network, field team, partnership, or measured outcome that does not yet exist.

Where to route

Use verified emergency, crisis, hospital, community-violence, domestic-violence, school, workplace, behavioral-health, and public-agency pathways appropriate to the issue.

Source and review note

Paterson is a planned listening and learning track, not an active GVRP service network. Local relationships must be verified before public naming.
