Your job is not to decide who is dangerous.
Your useful role is narrower: describe what you actually observed, preserve original context when it is safe and lawful, and use the verified channel that matches the situation. Qualified teams—not a public audience—must evaluate meaning, circumstances, support needs, and risk.
One behavior, identity, diagnosis, belief, appearance, rumor, or stereotype does not determine dangerousness. Many behaviors that appear in attack histories are common among people who never commit violence.
Preserve without amplifying
If safe and lawful, retain the original URL, message, date, time, and relevant context. Do not repost, provoke, confront, dox, shame, or investigate.
Route to qualified humans
Use 911 for imminent danger, 988 for suicidal or emotional crisis, and verified school, workplace, platform, or local professional pathways for other concerns.
FICTIONAL PRACTICE
Describe behavior instead of assigning a label.
Unsafe shortcut: “He is obviously dangerous. Everyone should know.”
More useful description: “On Tuesday at 2:10 p.m., I directly observed a public post containing these exact words. I retained the original URL and did not repost it.”
Emergency
Call 911 when danger is imminent or violence is in progress. Do not delay emergency help to use a website or form.
Crisis
Call or text 988 for suicidal or emotional crisis support in the United States. Call 911 if danger is imminent.
Institutional concern
Use the institution's verified and monitored reporting, safeguarding, safety, or support pathway.
Program learning
Use education and planning resources. Never redirect case information into a general Art of Survival or GVRP form.
